Birthday Parties? I want one!

I think I will wear this to my next party. Whaddaya think?

I think I will wear this to my next party. Whaddaya think?

You may have read the Lady Servant’s take on the doggie birthday party here, but I have my own views. This past weekend the Servants told me that my friend Max was turning two. I had a bit of a hard time with that because when I first met Max, he and I were the same size. Now he outweighs me by about seventy pounds. I have no idea how that happened.

The party was at a bar I have never been to before, and it was small and crowded. There were at least 6 or 7 other dogs there, and there were a whole bunch of humans, too. I didn’t know what to make of it. Normally, I have to behave out in public, and I don’t mind because I like going places with the Servants. Also, in a regular situation I am usually the only dog around so people pay lots of attention to me.

But this was very strange, indeed. I wasn’t really sure if I was supposed to play with the other dogs, since we were all mostly on a leash, or I was just supposed to hang out and have cake. Either way would have been fine. But there were also a lot of humans and I didn’t know too many of them. Overall, I will say that it was a little too much for me, and I am sorry that I asked the Servants to leave early.

But I learned an important lesson that day: Birthday parties – especially if they are at my house – could be loads of fun. When do you think I should start lobbying the Lady Servant for my party? My birthday (that the Servants picked at random, since they don’t really know when I was born) is January 1. It seems like as good a day as any for a party.
